Information We Collect
HomeStorage.com collects minimal information to provide our services:
- Usage Data: Pages visited, time on site, and general location (country/region)
- Device Information: Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Interaction Data: Anonymized recordings of how visitors use the site — mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and taps — used to improve usability. Form fields and sensitive content are automatically masked. See our analytics providers below for details.
- Cookies: Used for analytics and to remember your preferences
- Browser storage:We use your browser's sessionStorage for two short-lived purposes: (1) handing your selected photo from the homepage to the Space Analyzer page, and (2) keeping your most recent AI analysis (the photo, the plan, and any AI-generated rendering) cached for the duration of your browser session so that hitting the back button or opening a product link in a new tab doesn't lose your results. This data is local to your device, expires when you close the tab, and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it by tapping "Try another photo" in either tool, or by closing the tab.
We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use our tools and guides.

Photos You Upload to the Space Analyzer
Our Space Analyzer lets you upload a photo of a room for AI-powered organization suggestions. Here is exactly what happens to that photo:
- No server-side storage. We do not save uploaded photos to a database or permanent storage. The photo is held in memory only for the duration of the analysis request.
- Sent to an AI provider for analysis. Your photo is transmitted over HTTPS to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenRouter, which may route to models such as Google Gemini or OpenAI GPT) to generate the storage analysis and AI vision image.
- Provider retention. The AI provider may temporarily retain the photo per their own policies for abuse detection and model safety. We do not control or have access to that retention. Review the OpenRouter and underlying model provider policies for their specifics.
- Rate limiting metadata. We store a hashed version of your IP address temporarily (up to 1 hour) to enforce rate limits. This metadata does not include the photo or its contents.
- No sharing. We never sell, share, or distribute uploaded photos to any party other than the AI provider strictly for the purpose of producing your requested analysis.
Do not upload photos containing identifiable minors, other individuals without their consent, or any content that violates our Terms of Service. If you have concerns about a specific analysis, contact us and we will do our best to address them, though we cannot retroactively purge data from our AI provider's temporary logs.
Pro Matching Form
If you submit our pro matching form to be introduced to a local professional organizer, here is exactly what we collect and what happens to it:
- What we collect: Your first name, email address, optional phone number, zip code, project type (e.g. garage, closet), and an optional free-text description of your project.
- Why we collect it: To introduce you to a professional organizer in your area who works on the kind of project you described.
- Who we share it with: Today, we are not yet connected to a network of professional organizers, so submitted leads are held in our system and not shared with anyone. Once a pro network is in place, your information will be shared only with one or more vetted organizers in your area, only for the specific project you submitted, and only after you submit the form.
- How we contact you: We may email you about your request. If you provide a phone number, we or a matched organizer may call or text you about your project. We do not use your phone number for marketing.
- How long we keep it: Lead submissions are retained for up to 24 months to support introductions and any follow-up. You can request deletion at any time using the contact information below.
- No selling. We do not sell your contact information to third parties. Sharing happens only as part of fulfilling your introduction request.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics 4: Aggregate page views, session counts, and traffic sources. Data is processed under Google's privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity: Heatmaps and anonymized session recordings of how visitors interact with our pages — clicks, scrolls, mouse movements, and rage-click signals. Clarity automatically masks form inputs, passwords, and sensitive content; we do not capture what you type. We additionally mask all user-uploaded photos and any AI-generated analysis of those photos in Clarity recordings. The image of your space, the AI's description of what it sees, and the AI-generated "after" rendering are never recorded — only your interactions (taps, scrolls, navigation) are. We use this to spot usability problems, not to identify individual visitors. Data is processed under Microsoft's privacy statement.
- AI Providers: OpenRouter (and the underlying model providers it routes to) processes photos you submit to the Space Analyzer, as described above
- Affiliate Partners: When you click storage facility links, you may be directed to partner sites with their own privacy policies
You can opt out of all analytics by enabling your browser's Do Not Track setting, by using a browser-level tracker blocker (uBlock Origin, Brave Shields, Safari ITP), or by opting out directly via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Affiliate Links
Some links on our site are affiliate links. When you book storage through these links, we may earn a commission. This does not affect the price you pay. See our affiliate disclosure for more details.
What this means for tracking:Clicking an affiliate link sends you to a third party (e.g. Amazon, storage providers) who may set their own cookies and track your activity on their site to attribute the referral to us. That tracking is governed by the destination's privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive identifying information about you from these partners — only aggregate commission reports.
