Closet Organization: Before and After

Problem. The entire closet floor is covered with a chaotic mix of dirty clothes, shoes, and miscellaneous items. Nothing has a clear designated spot, making it hard to access anything, and it creates a visual mess.

Fix. Implement a laundry sorter with multiple compartments for dirty clothes. This immediately categorizes laundry and gets it off the floor. Then, add a shoe rack or designated bins for shoes to keep them neat and accessible.

Problem. The hanging rod is completely overpacked with clothes, making it difficult to pull out individual items or even see what's there. The hangers are also a mix of types, which can cause clothes to slip or hang unevenly.

Fix. Declutter the hanging clothes – remove anything that doesn't fit, isn't worn, or is damaged. Replace all varied hangers with slim, non-slip velvet hangers to maximize space and create a uniform look. Group similar clothing types together.

Problem. The top shelf is a dumping ground for various items, including bags, what looks like an old box, and general clutter. Items are piled high and unsecured, making them hard to retrieve and prone to toppling.

Fix. Utilize clear, stackable storage bins with lids for the top shelf. These will contain items, protect them from dust, and allow for easy identification without needing to pull everything down. Label each bin clearly.

Problem. There's significant empty wall space below the hanging clothes, between the rod and the cluttered floor. This is prime real estate that's currently wasted.

Fix. Install a narrow, multi-shelf closet organizer that hangs from the rod. This creates additional shelving for folded items like sweaters, t-shirts, or even accessories, utilizing the vertical space more efficiently.
